Fasetto reveals Link, the tiny portable SSD
In this day and age, it goes without saying that we consume a whole lot more data than ever before. Our tablets and smartphones come with ever increasing resolution counts, which in turn would translate to larger file sizes. Of course, this is to take advantage of the lowered cost of storage as well as ever increasing capacities. Having a few portable hard drives is not out of the question even for the ordinary user right now, but what if you would want to up the ante and bring things to a whole new level? This is what Fasetto has decided to do, realizing that hard drives still have their weaknesses including heat and possible crashes due to the needle of the hard drive head ploughing into the platter, which is why they turned to SSD (Solid State Drive) technology for their storage needs. Enter the Link, a tiny yet durable SSD storage platform.
Link is unique in a sense that it measures a diminutive 48mm x 48mm x 23mm – making it as small as it gets. Despite the small form factor, do not be fooled by the kind of performance in which it can kick up – you can stash away up to 2TB of data within the solid state drive storage offered. Apart from that, the Link will come powered by a quad-core ARM processor, has 4GB of RAM, supports Wi-Fi connectivity, has Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy capability, carries a 9 axis compass, accelerometer and gyroscope, boasts of wireless charging capability, and will remain working as long as the 1,350mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery keeps on going.
The exterior chassis is made of CNC aluminum and shock proof ABS, where it will also be UV resistant, weather resistant, allergen free and waterproof up to 45 feet, now how about that for durability? It works with any Wi-Fi enabled device that sports a Web browser, and the battery life of 2 weeks on standby bodes well, although it lasts for up to 8 hours on streaming. You can hook up to 20 devices simultaneously, and stream to 7 devices at once, all at a transfer speed of up to 1900Mbps. Pretty cool, yes?
